Ryan C Weiss Eagle Scout Court of Honor

On February 23rd several members of Detachment 296 had the honor of attending the Eagle Scout Court of Honor Ceremony for a young man, Ryan C Weiss. It is always fun to attend these ceremonies. We get the opportunity to see, first hand, some of the great ways that our youth are influencing our communities, and in doing so get the opportunity to commend them on their efforts. Not only do I like to recognize the young men, but I like to congratulate the parents. Without them and their guidance these young men would never be able to achieve their goals. This is never more clear than at this particular ceremony. For those of you that don’t know, one part of the ceremony includes the scouts giving out a mentor pin to a person that had a great influence on them and their lives. Ryan decided to give his pin to his father. He shared an emotional story of how his father has influenced his life, including helping Ryan finish his Eagle Project, while at the same time getting ready for surgery. Young men like this, and their families, gives us all some hope that our futures will be in safe hands. - Commandant Jason M Smith
