John Owen Mann Foundation Fundraiser Color Guard

On November 17th members of Detachment 296 provided a color guard for the John Owen Mann Foundation during its American Warrior Initiative Fundraiser. In the past this foundation has assisted veterans in need in getting a house and last year sent a veteran and their family on an all expenses paid trip to Disney. This year, working with Custom Canines Service Dog Academy, they were able to present Marine Corps Veteran Debra McCollum, at no cost to her, a service dog named Keno. Debra , who served in the Corps from 1980 - 1988, is disabled in her right eye, ear, and hip. I had the pleasure of speaking to Debra prior to the event and this dog will definitely help improve her life. On behalf of Detachment 296 I would like to thank the John Owen Mann Foundation and Custom Canines for their support of the veteran community, and look forward to possibly working with them in the future.
